Tempered glass has undergone a heating process which hardens the glass and causes it to break into many small pieces if broken. Tempered glass is necessary when there is a higher risk of breakage from high traffic, such as in a door. Tempered glass is sometimes referred to as ‘safety glass’.
Tempered glass cannot be cut, and attempting to will cause the piece to shatter.
